The History of Stampede
Brief History
Stampede started in 2004 with a founder who led an active lifestyle and after a workout wanted to enjoy a cold beer. Of course, after working out, he wanted a beer with less than the 150+ calories that one finds in most regular beers. There had to be a more tastier option than many of the mass-produced light beers on the market commonly referred to as "Yellow Fizzy Water".
The master brewer who had successfully created a new category of beer in the US, Pete Slosberg of “Pete’s Wicked Ale” was consulted. Eventually the visionary creator of the first light beer, Joseph Owades, got involved and created the Stampede recipe, a new light beer. Wikipedia refers to Dr. Owades as the "Father of Light Beer". Among his many distinctions as an innovative brewer was the 1994 Award of Merit from the Master Brewers Association of the Americas along with creating the highly-successful Samuel Adams Lager.
After all, why not have a light beer with a great taste? The result is Stampede Light®, a Pilsner style beer with ABV 3.8%, 115 calories, 8.8g carbs, 0.6g protein and 0.0g fat, per 12 oz. bottle and a great taste!
